These top spots for sledging in and around Gateshead have been recommended by local parents, we’ve put together a handy map to help find the best spots nearby!
If you have any recommendations to add, please do get in touch here🙂
The above sites are frequently recommended but haven’t been personally vetted – please take care and check for hazards before sledging (rocks, trees, fences, streams, roads etc), and if a location is unsuitable or too busy there are plenty of alternatives to try instead. Here’s a few more tips for staying safe and comfy in the snow:
❄️ If possible head out early before the snow gets too compacted and icy. ❄️ Avoid sledging in dim light when it may be harder to spot potential risks. ❄️ Avoid loose-fitting clothing/scarves that could get caught while sledging. ❄️ Wear warm waterproof clothing and boots, and take spares if you’re planning on going out for the day so that soggy cold gloves and pants can be changed if need be!
