As part of the Heritage Open Days program, discover the ancient site of Segedunum, Travel nine stories high to the 35m Viewing Tower and take in spectacular views across the city and river Tyne. Segedunum housed 600 Roman soldiers and stood for almost 300 years, and is the most excavated fort along Hadrian’s Wall with many surviving foundations, a full-scale reconstruction bath house (currently viewed externally only) and a large interactive museum.
