I’m fed up of answering the question ‘but why should I’ every time we open my son’s school reading book. He’s a good reader but is just not interested. We tried The Week Junior and it was a huge hit, it’s one of the few things he’ll actually choose to read independently without a big debate!
Now is a great time to try The Week Junior for FREE! New customers can subscribe this summer and receive 6 free issues (RRP £19.50), followed by 13 copies at just £2.31 each!
The award winning current affairs magazine is aimed at 8-14 year olds, and is full of interesting news and events from around the globe presented in an accessible engaging way. Read by over 90,000 families per week, The Week Junior stimulates children’s natural curiosity to get young people loving reading and learning.
Mumbler Review
My eldest is at the age where he’s outgrowing many things, from school clothes to favourite shows. We’ve always loved watching the likes of Go Jetters and Octonauts for some sneaky educational screen time. They’re great for learning about geography, nature and planet Earth, but now that my son is too ‘big and cool’ The Week Junior is the perfect next step to discover more about the world as a mini grownup. It enables kids to be more informed and confident and get involved in family discussions, with topical news stories broken down in an age appropriate child-friendly way.
Each issue is crammed with a wide variety of topics, including science, nature, history, sports, craft ideas, puzzles and more. It’s great value for money and there’s bound to be something for everyone to enjoy. Our June edition had articles on dolphins, dinosaurs, football, Stonehenge, the Falklands War and loads of interesting bits and bobs from around the world. My son’s favourite was the Science and Technology section, his little brother got involved as well and liked the very cute Photos of the Week and That’s Unbelievable – especially the story on the pet lizard who got stuck in SpongeBob Squarepants’ pineapple house!
The Week Junior is designed to boost your child’s love of reading. My son usually has a short attention span with books, but as the stories are in bitesize chunks he was able to dip in and out. This often involved a few minutes of reading then going around ‘reporting’ his top facts to family members at length – then of course Repeat Repeat Repeat. The puzzles and quiz sections went down well, and there are also ideas for crafts, entertainment and challenges to get more involved.
It’s a great time to try it out over the summer, to keep learning active and reduce screen time. You can subscribe today to receive 6 FREE issues, and can also enter the Summer of Reading Challenge to win a book bundle worth £250!
